SUFFICIENT FINANCING FOR YAK-58 PROJECT
september 2006

Yak-Alacon has ensured sufficient financing through solid credit facilities to develop and implement capital projects, in particular a project to manufacture Yak-58 light multipurpose six-seaters. This was announcement made by Alexander Toporov, Yak-Alacon President, in an interview for AviaPort.Ru.

Yak Alacon is a Kazakhstan-based JV established with the view of developing and implementing investment projects involving engineering designs by Yakovlev Design Office, i.e. promotion of new Yak engineering designs throughout the globe. "At the current stage, the main program pursued by the JV is development and distribution of Yak-58 aircrafts", A. Toporov said.

According to him, Yak-Alacon has been actively attracting investments. The Company has a solid partner and a well-structured investment program financed jointly by local Kazakhstani and foreign financial institutions. Financing is being provided against guarantees of the Kazakhstan-based Center Credit Bank.

The Company plans to set-up batch production of Yak-58 aircrafts by late 2008. "By that time we also hope to have the Yak-58 certification completed", A. Toporov informed.

YAK-58 AIRCRAFTS AIMING AT VAST GEOGRAPHY
september 2006

Yak-58 light multipurpose aircrafts are expected to find their way not only into the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan, but also to those of other regions of the world, an industry source advised AviaPort.Ru journalists.

According to him, the works on set-up of the Yak-58 batch production have been resumed in partnership with Kazakhstan. There has been a joint venture Yak-Alacon established in Kazakhstan to deal with engineering works, testings, batch production, sales and maintenance of Yak family light multipurpose aircrafts designed by Yakovlev Design Office.

At the outset, Yak-Alacon was supposed to be operating at the Kazakhstan's market, but currently negotiations on promising projects are being held with China. China was the second country to hold a license for assembly of Yak family light aircrafts. By now the aircrafts have nearly exhausted their resources. Should Yak aircrafts be replaced with Western aircrafts, the entire system of fuel and lubricants supply, as well as the maintenance and repairs system - that have been smoothly operating in China for Yak aircrafts - will have to be completely reformed. "And it's no secret that Western aircrafts, for instance those manufactured by Cessna, are more sensitive and demanding as compared to Yak aircrafts", the source said.

According to him, negotiations on Yak-58 are currently under way with Kazakhstan public agencies, in particular with the Kazakh Emergency Ministry.

Revival of Yak-58 projects has become possible through successful search of investors. Financing has been provided by Kazakhstan financial institutions.

Yak-58 is powered by one M-14 piston engine. With a range of up to 100 km, it's capable of accommodating up to five passengers.

AIRCRAFT ENGINE Ì9Ò TO BE CERTIFIED IN 2006
november 2004

Voronezh-based Mechanical Plant, which is the only plant in Russia to be manufacturing 325-450-horesepower piston aircraft engines for general-use aviation, plans to develop and ensure certification of a M9T turbocharged engine, an industry source said to AviaPort.Ru journalists.

According to inside information, M9T is a modification of the [boosted to 410-420 horsepower] M9F engine that has been so far powering only individual sports aircrafts. As of today, the main factor deterring wider introduction of M9F to batch production lines is its short life coupled with a relatively high price. The short life is explained by exploitation of the engine units to their utmost capacity in case of sports aircrafts, the source said.

According to him, the planned turbocharged engine already has prospect customers among design offices working on light aircrafts for general-use aviation.

He stressed that the Ì9Ò engine being developed with light aviation in mind will have a long life due to substantially less extensive exploitation in the course of normal cruise operation. Design parameters promise attractive cruise consumption rate which is a major feature for civil aircrafts.

"YAKOVLEV" BREAKS ON THE WORLD MARKET
september 2003

For the past two years Design Bureau named after A.S.Yakovlev has made a huge jerk forward. It is enough to say that currently Design Bureau simultaneously works on almost 20 programs. The fact that the things are going better is evidently testified by the display perfectly made out by Yakovlev's people on MAKS near which participants and visitors of salon constantly gathered. In essence a light multi-purpose airplane Yak-58 received the second birth. Development of this machine was frozen in 1997 because of insufficient financing and the generally negative economic situation in Russia. Only at the beginning of the present year the initiative group ALACON (Kazakhstan) and Yakovlev Design Bureau joint together for the purpose of regenerating the program and bringing it to a commercial success. The Joint-Stock Company "YAK-ALACON" is established to coordinate the forthcoming work. Yakovlev Design Bureau has begun restoration of Yak-58 prototype airworthiness for renewal of their tests and the subsequent certification. It is supposed, that the batch production of this six-seater plane will be prepared on the aircraft factory in Smolensk.
